Volunteering opportunities

Young Leaders are a group of aspiring young people who act as ambassadors for the charity Youth Mix. The charity run events and programmes including life skills, personal development, employability skills, healthy living and wellbeing. Volunteering involves 3 to 8 hours a month with evenings and weekends.

Working as a team, you'll be creating and cooking meals using surplus fruits and vegetables for individuals who are socially isolated or struggling to access healthy food.

Volunteering at Southwark Libraries could be just right for you if you want to give back to your local area. Libraries are at the heart of our communities, allowing you to engage with residents and have a meaningful impact. You could even work towards a Duke of Edinburgh award.

Work alongside staff to deliver a variety of fun activities, gallery tours, and visitor admission. Apply online, with the deadline ongoing.

Starting at 4.45pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays when the market closes, our team of 3 -4 volunteers visit traders and gather amazing surplus fruit & veg, bread and other products. The food is brought to Plan Zheroes table where local charities then come to collect it.

Support young people through a range of activities, residential and workshops.

Support 8 to 11 year olds with their social and emotional development before they transition into secondary school.

Help rescue the food surplus before it becomes waste and deliver it to charities, schools and community organisations across London for people in need.

Fire Cadets offers young people the opportunity to develop their confidence and personal skills. It's a bit like Scouts or Guides – only you'll gain real-world skills, make lots of new friends, learn to work as a team, and have a lot of fun along the way.

Join one of many volunteers making a difference to parks and the local community across SE1. Learn new skills and meet knew people whilst you're at it. Opportunities include gardening, and being a warden in a post-medieval, pauper’s graveyard!

Volunteering at Surrey Docks Farm is a fun and enjoyable way to learn new skills, meet new people and contribute to your local community. You need to be aged 18+. Roles include animal care, farm gym, gardening, supporting youth clubs, supporting adults and in the farm shop.
