*School Offer* for Diane Abbott in Conversation: A Woman Like Me
The Southbank Centre, your local arts centre, is thrilled to offer schools discounted tickets to hear MP Diane Abbott in conversation with Afua Hirsh on Thursday 12th September.

Diane Abbott is the first Black female MP to be elected as a Member of Parliament, and is a fearless and vocal champion for others in the face of her own adversity and public scrutiny. A child of the Windrush Generation, Diane has served as MP for Hackney and Stoke Newington for over 35 years, and the founder of several initiatives including London Schools and the Black Child, and Black Women Mean Business.
Her new book, A Woman Like Me, is a humorous and inspirational account that celebrates how one woman succeeded against massive odds and built an extraordinary legacy.
This event will support students' understanding of politics, equality and diversity, and raise their awareness of a well-known public figure who is a truly unique and inspirational female figure in the UK today.
