Funding our Future is an opportunity for young people to obtain a grant for up to £500 towards their personal and social development.
Young people make an application online , which is then reviewed by a panel of young people who decide if they should receive support.
So I will decide who gets the money?
Exactly, you and your fellow panelists will look at the applications and decide if it deserves funding.
Workers will be on hand to support you, but you make the final decision.
Sounds like a lot of work?
Not really, you come to a meeting once a month. We go through the applications on screen, and then you discuss it with your fellow panel member Is discuss them.
The meeting starts at 5pm and takes around 2 hours.
So whats in for me?
fair question. You will pick up loads of skills through be on the panel including teamwork, communication and negotiating. plus you will get the satisfaction of supporting young people across Southwark.
Plus, we give vouchers to all panelists to thank them for their support, and we provide snacks during the meeting
